Yet somehow, despite this being their only job, they failed to make a connection between slime evolutions and what they eat. A connection that was easily made by a rando that wasn't even trying to research these beings as his entire reason for existence.

Its not that weird actually. In our world we have lots of disciplines where popular theories aren't questioned cause "the science is settled" and even trying something else will make you look stupid. The researcher said the connection between food and evolution was already discarded so they didn't even try. Ryoma had no preconceived notions about slimes research so he was free to try everything.

The researchers said they fed the slimes scraps from other animals' feed. If their food is controlled like that, then there's no way to ever find out the connection between food and evolution.

What's more noteworthy is that "slime researcher" is an actual job. Think about it. What were they doing all day? Ryouma can do all this stuff with slimes because he has his reincarnation knowledge. For everyone else, it's just like a hour's worth of testing how elastic the slimes are and then they've finished all the research they will ever need to do on that type of slime.

If we're assuming the author put any thought into these guys, then "slime researcher" is just a title the guild gives to employees to make them quit. Since there's nothing to research, they employee will experience extreme boredom and bosses can harass them about not producing results.

I didn't see room for 52 slimes. I saw 6 slimes so that means they are doing a load every 8 mins, start to finish. This is not realistic.

TBF, they dont need to do all the different step a washer/dryer does, because they literally only target dirt. No soaking, no adding detergent, no wash cycle, no dry cycle.
Also, Ryoma has 75 Cleaner slimes, so he could easily do that amount. And space isnt really an issue, because the thing about the slimes is that you can fit a lot of them in a room if you add shelves etc. I'd mention Big Slimes, but he'd need 100 Cleaner slimes for that, so it's an invalid argument

I hope each slime gets a small little box to stay in to eat the dirt & grimes. Would help with sorting out which loads belong to which customer. Too bad we don't see it :(
